Community-Centric Fundraising
An idea whose time has come
A while back, I was excited to see an email in my inbox from one of my heroes, Vu Le. Vu is a nonprofit pro who is focused on making nonprofits better in ways that actually include the communities we are purporting to serve. He has a wicked sense of humor, an incisive viewpoint and thoughtfully includes amazingly cute pictures of animals to begin each post. And he says things that are painful, but true, and people need to hear them.
Vu runs a couple of wonderful initiatives and his email was announcing a new one: Community-Centric Fundraising. They were seeking content contributors on topics related to addressing the racism and inequitable practices baked into the relationships between nonprofits and funders.
I answered the call, and I’m proud to be included as one of the first contributors to a really worthy endeavor. I hope that my content provokes some dialogue, and ultimately, some healing. Visit communitycentricfundraising.org to join in.
